The worst time to visit Bangkok is from June through October, when the city experiences its rainy/monsoon season. Some years, the rainy season starts as early as mid-June.

November — Sunny & Little Rain

November is a great time to visit Bangkok as it enters its dry season, with temperatures ideal for exploring the city. Humidity levels are also low this month.

The average low temperature drops to around 23°C (73°F), while the average high temperature reaches about 31°C (88°F).

In November, the weather is generally sunny with minimal rainfall. In the later evening hours, you may need a light sweater. Loy Krathong is a famous festival in November, a Thai festival, and a great visitor experience!

December — Dry & Cool

Bangkok enters its coolest month, though depending on where you’re visiting from, you may still think these temperatures are rather warm.

The average temperature in December dips to around 20°C (68°F), while the average high temperature reaches about 31°C (88°F).

December is a great month to visit Bangkok; the weather remains mostly dry and sunny, making it an ideal time to explore the city’s many attractions. Wearing a light sweater in the late evening is a good idea.

January — Dry & Sunny

In January, Bangkok remains in its cool season, with pleasant temperatures for exploring the city for all it offers.

The average low temperature hovers around 22°C (72°F), while the average high temperature reaches about 31°C (88°F).

The weather remains dry and sunny in January, making for a great time to explore Bangkok. Early morning and late evenings are slightly cool, but middays are still warm.

February — Still Dry & Sunny

February is another excellent month to visit Thailand. The weather in Bangkok has begun to transition, and it’s slightly hotter than the previous two months, but it’s ideal!

Despite rising temperatures in February, humidity levels in Bangkok remain low. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and seek shade when needed on the hotter days.

March — Hot & Slightly Humid

Temperatures in March heat up relatively compared to February, and Bangkok’s dry season is in full swing.

The average low temperature is around 26°C (75°F), while the average high temperature can soar up to 35°C (95°F). But with humidity, it’ll feel hotter most days.

March is an ideal time to visit Bangkok, and you can expect consistent dry weather with little to no rainfall this month. It is a perfect time to experience Bangko’s many attractions, areas, and tours.

The average low temperature is around 26°C (79°F), which is not too low at all, while the average high temperature can reach a scorching 36°C (97°F) or higher because of the high humidity levels.

Daily, the weather remains hot and sunny, with minimal chances of rainfall. For those who can’t bear the heat, beware: visiting Bangkok in April is not advised if you struggle.

If you visit in April, it’s crucial to stay hydrated during your visit. But don’t worry; Bangkok offers many indoor activities, and doing things in the evening hours is recommended.

Songkran Festival happens during April 13 – 15, Thailand’s most famous yearly festival, where locals/tourists spray one another with water. Many tourists visit during this time to experience the festival; it’s definitely one way to cool off!

TIP: If you’re uncomfortable being sprayed or soaked in water by strangers, DON’T visit Bangkok during Songkran, which is April 13-15th in Thailand.

In May, Bangkok continues to experience hot and sweltering weather, unbearable to some. Both April and May are the two standout hottest months in Bangkok.

While the weather remains mostly sunny, with limited rainfall, it can be an unfavourable time to visit due to the city’s muggy atmosphere as weather patterns transition into June.

July — Moderate Rainfall

As the rainy season continues into July, Bangkok experiences frequent rain showers and occasional thunderstorms.

Average low temperatures in July are around 26°C (79°F), with highs reaching approximately 32°C (90°F).

It’s advised to be prepared for sudden heavy downpours. Also, humidity levels are increased in July.

August — Rain Increases

In August, Bangkok remains in its rainy season with forecasts similar to those in July, with occasional showers and high humidity.

The average low temperature is around 26°C (79°F), while the average high temperature can reach up to 33°C (91°F).

You can expect an increase in rainfall during August compared to July, and humidity also slightly increases.

September — Rainiest Month

Don’t visit Bangkok in September if you want to spend lots of time outdoors. In September, Bangkok experiences its peak month of the monsoon/rainy season.

For July, the average low temperature is around 26°C (79°F), while the average high temperature can reach up to 32°C (90°F).

However, if you visit during this rainy month, remember there’s so much to do indoors in Bangkok. Malls, Muay Thai boxing fights, indoor markets, excellent restaurants, and more.

And rain consistently for the full day is only likely some days, so you should be able to go out at some point without rainfall.

October — Ending of Rainy Season

October is a transitional month in Bangkok weather-wise; the city begins to experience a gradual decrease in rainfall, signaling the end of the rainy season.

The average low temperatures hover around 25°C (77°F), while the average high temperature reaches about 31°C (88°F).

Unfortunately, Humidity levels remain relatively high in the city, but overall, the weather is more pleasant with fewer showers.

High Season in Bangkok

The time in which Bangkok sees its most visitors is from November through February, known as Bangkok’s high season travel time.

During these months, the weather is ideal for exploring the city for all it offers without worrying about constant rainfall or unbearing humidity levels.

Around Christmas and New Year’s Eve, Bangkok sees plenty of tourists visiting from worldwide looking to celebrate in the big city.

If you’re looking to visit Bangkok during the high season but also looking to find deals on flights/hotels, you’re best to visit at the start of November before it gets even busier or near the end of February when the city begins to see a slight decline in tourists.

Remember, no matter when you choose to visit, Bangkok is a well-developed city with plenty to do and experience indoors!

Shoulder Season in Bangkok

Suppose you want to visit Bangkok when the weather is still fairly favorable for experiencing the city and more affordable than during the high season. In that case, you must visit during shoulder season!

Bangkok’s shoulder season is from March through June. During shoulder season, you can expect fewer tourists in the city.

However, from April 13- 15, it gets rather busy due to the Songkran Festival in the city!

The prices for flights and hotels to Bangkok during the shoulder season months are excellent. Both airlines and hotel chains offer deals to entice travelers to visit during shoulder season before travel to Bangkok decreases in the off-season.

The weather during the shoulder season is still fairly decent, especially compared to the rainy season, but if you choose to visit during this time, prepare yourself for the heat.

On the positive side, when you need a break from the heat, you can take a break at one of Bangkok’s many malls in the city center.

Off Season in Bangkok

Visiting Bangkok during the off season isn’t the worst idea, but it’s not the best either. Ultimately, it depends on when you choose to visit during the off-season.

As mentioned before, weather trends are different monthly during the off season in Bangkok, and some are worse than others.

If you visit during late October, the chances of rainfall are the lowest during the off-season in Bangkok. After mid-November, Bangkok’s rainy season is in full swing.

During this time, Bangkok sees its fewest tourists due to the unfavorable weather conditions. This also means it’s the cheapest time to visit Bangkok. Hotels offer various deals to entice tourists to visit during the off season months!

August and September are two standout months in Bangkok when significant rainfall and thunderstorms occur. At times during these months, some streets in the city even flood, and the water in the streets can become ankle-deep, which is not the most pleasant thing!
