December — Cool & Dry

During this time, Krabi’s weather transitions into the dry season, resulting in dry and less humid conditions that are perfect for enjoying the beach. Also, the seas aren’t aggressive, offering ideal conditions for island hopping around Krabi!

February — Still Dry & Sunny

February is considered one of the best months to visit Krabi. It is southern Thailand’s driest month, including other popular places like Phuket. If you want to experience all that Krabi offers fully, now is the perfect time to plan your visit!

March — Hot & Slightly Humid

Krabi experiences delightful and warm weather in March as the dry season advances.

The temperatures are steady, with the average high temperature reaching approximately 33°C (91°F) and the average low temperature staying around 24°C (75°F).

However, it will feel much hotter in March compared to February because humidity levels begin to rise in March.

March presents a wonderful opportunity to visit Krabi. The days are sunny, and rainfall is minimal. This provides an ideal setting for beach activities and discovering Krabi’s many enchanting islands!

April — Humid & Hot

In April, Krabi experiences hot and humid weather as it transitions into the hottest and most humid month of the dry season. The humidity levels rise, making spending time at the beach essential.

The average high temperature reaches around 34°C (93°F), while the average low temperature remains around 25°C (77°F).

April marks the end of the dry season in southern Thailand. However, there may be occasional showers and thunderstorms towards the end of the month.

One great way to beat the heat in April is to visit Krabi during the Songkran festival. This is a Thai New Year celebration where locals and tourists splash water on each other!

If you find high temperatures and uncomfortable humidity difficult, you might consider visiting Krabi a different month.

Worst Time to Visit Krabi by Month

May — Rainy/Cloudy & Humid

It’s important to know that May is a transitional weather month for Krabi and the rest of southern Thailand; with the dry season ending and the rainy season starting, May can be a hit or miss if you choose to visit then.

Most showers and storms during May are usually short, offering some relief from the hot/humid temperatures. However, on some days, the rain may continue for a longer time throughout the day.

Krabi still offers enjoyable sunny days for beach activities and outdoor exploration in May, despite being the first month of monsoon season!

TIP: If you choose to visit during May, it’s best to visit during the first half of the month to increase your odds of better weather!

June — Hot & Some Rainfall

As Krabi continues into the rainy season, the tropical region begins to heat up alongside wetter weather conditions.

Humidity levels rise compared to May in Krabi, with some days offering less comfortable humidity.

The average high temperature during June is around 32°C (90°F), and the average low temperature is around 25°C (77°F).

June is the second month of the rainy season in Krabi. It is known for its consistency of rain showers and thunderstorms on some days, interrupting plans for island hopping, beach days, and most things to do in Krabi!

However, you should expect a few sunny days with high humidity in June.

July — Moderate Rainfall

It’s important to know that August is one of the rainiest months in Krabi, and it’s not advised to visit then. Along with the rainfall comes aggressive seas, making popular activities in Krabi, like island hopping, snorkeling, and other beach activities, less possible.

September — Rainiest Month

In September, Krabi and the rest of southern Thailand experiences the most rainfall but also offer cooler temperatures than in previous months.

The average high temperature in Krabi during September is approximately 32°C (90°F), while the average low temperature slightly drops to around 25°C (77°F).

One positive aspect of September is that humidity levels decrease, providing a more comfortable climate for visitors.

However, it is not recommended to visit Krabi in September as it is the rainiest month of the year. The chances of having beach days are quite slim during this time.

October — Nearing the End of Rainy Season

As the weather changes, humidity levels continue to decrease in Krabi. It is not advisable to visit Krabi in October, as sunny and warm days are not guaranteed yet. It’s best to wait until November for a more favorable experience.

High Season in Krabi

Krabi’s peak travel season is from November to March. The tropical province attracts the most visitors during this time thanks to its favorable weather conditions.

During these four months, you can expect many days of sunshine, low humidity, and minimal to no rainfall.

Expect crowded beaches, ferries, and islands as many tourists visit during the favorable time!

If you plan a trip to Krabi during the dry season but prefer less crowded beaches, visiting in November or April is best; both months are considered the shoulder season months in Krabi!

Visiting Krabi during the off-season can be risky, as it greatly depends on your chosen month.

The weather conditions vary significantly from month to month in Krabi’s off-season. For instance, June offers some sunny days despite being part of the off-season, whereas September is known for being the rainiest month in the region.

One major drawback of visiting during certain off-season months is dealing with aggressive sea conditions in Krabi. Many tourists visit Krabi to enjoy its tropical climate and explore its beautiful islands/beaches.

However, during the off-season, it is common to see red flags on beaches advising tourists not to enter the water due to dangerous sea conditions.

August and September are two months with the most rainfall and thunderstorms in southern Thailand, and it’s to be advised not to visit Krabi during these months.

Where to Stay in Krabi

Ao Nang is a popular resort town and is the best base to stay in Krabi for those looking to do many island tours! Including the Phi Phi Island tour, Krabi 4 Island tour, and others!
